Kishi Bashi is the solo project of K. Ishibashi (cute), a touring musician with the likes of Of Montreal and Regina Spektor, who uses looping and self-recorded samples to build a symphony out of a single violin.

In other words, Kishi Bashi is like Final Fantasy, but of Japanese lineage. And this is a sentence that inverts my brain, because the Final Fantasy I’m referring to is Owen Pallett, who named himself after the highly lucrative Japanese video game franchise (he has since stopped using Final Fantasy as a stage name, to avoid incurring legal wrathification). Kishi Bashi also shares some traits with the video game, in that he clearly enjoys some elaborate costuming.
